I Hope You Don’t Live in One of These 44 Apartment Buildings

We recently discovered that We Are Not Alone. In fact, Taylor Equities (nee Ness Properties) owns at least 44 multi-family buildings (apartments) and even a couple of business locations. (Taylor has recently hired a new management company: Los Angeles Property Management Group. Is this an admission that he is a lousy landlord, or is he trying to redeem his Taylor name and hide behind a different name? Or all 3?)

Taylor is obviously a very good businessman. However, so far on this property, we think he has been a very bad landlord.

As we said in a recent demand to this Beverly Hills landlord:

You have the power to play nice, give peace and comfort to the people living on your properties (giving you good money), and be a responsible, ethical company. It’s a wonderful opportunity to be generous, and create livable homes, while also making a good profit. So far, you have thrown this gift in the gutter.

moving truck has a tiny little problem getting in here. it took about 8 tries before it could clear the gate. and you should have seen what happened to OUR parking.

That might not be your own experience as a renter, of course. If you have Rent Control (RSO), you have a lot of protections from the city, so he can’t:

  • Take away your garbage and trash bins for 18 days
  • do construction in your home while you’re living there
  • do construction of any sort for 7 months if it’s not necessary, destroying your quiet enjoyment
  • raise your rent by 78%
  • have workers harass you by throwing things at you, spitting at you, cursing you, stealing, stopping you from parking,  breaking into your storage unit
  • enter your unit without your permission
  • evict tenants for no reason, and push so many tenants out there are only 1/3 of us left

And many more problems, each one of which has happened to us.
